In December 2022, a group of scientists, industrialists, and artists gathered in Sophia Antipolis for “Mare Nostrum“.
The event aimed to showcase the scientific research of various maritime observatories, such as the CNR-ISMAR of Portofino and the Oceanography Laboratory of Villefranche-sur-Mer, through a diverse range of disciplines.
Attendees also learned how modeling marine currents can help identify, recover and repurpose polluting debris such as fishing nets and plastics.
In addition, there were workshops featuring sustainable economy concepts, including recycled everyday objects like t-shirts and glasses, and artists who focused on the theme of high-tech equipment obsolescence.
